What the PA Legal Aid Network Actually Is
In plain language: PLAN isn’t one office you call. It’s a statewide network of nonprofit legal aid organizations that connect income-qualifying Pennsylvanians with real, licensed attorneys — at no cost. In Greater Philadelphia, it works through a few main doors, depending on where you live:
- Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties: Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania (LASP). Call the helpline at 877-429-5994, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., or apply online at lasp.org/apply. LASP has local offices in Bristol, Doylestown, Chester, Media, Norristown, Pottstown, and West Chester.
- Philadelphia: Community Legal Services and Philadelphia Legal Assistance both provide free legal help to income-qualifying residents. For mortgage and tax foreclosure specifically, the Save Your Home Philly Hotline (215-334-4663) connects you directly to housing attorneys.
