What the Hotline Actually Does
The Save Your Home Philly Hotline is a free program run jointly by the City of Philadelphia and Philadelphia Legal Assistance. It’s not a sales line and it’s not a scam text about your “final notice” — it’s staffed by real housing counselors, paralegals, and attorneys whose only job is to help Philadelphia homeowners stay in their homes. Since 2008, it has helped thousands of families work out a plan instead of losing their house to a sheriff sale. One call can connect you to a housing counselor, a free lawyer if you qualify, and — where it applies — a court-supervised conciliation conference (a required meeting where you and your lender sit down, often with a counselor’s help, to talk through options before any sale moves forward).
Who It’s For
- Philadelphia homeowners whose primary residence is in, or heading toward, mortgage foreclosure
- Anyone confused about a Sheriff Sale date, a “tangled title” (when the deed isn’t fully in your name — often after inheriting a family home), or a lender letter they don’t understand
- Homeowners who’ve fallen behind and aren’t sure if it’s too late to act (it almost never is)
